Making Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Bark

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bark Inspiration

The inspiration for this dessert came when I was making teacher gifts for Christmas this year for my children's teachers. I found a great idea for peanut butter pretzel sandwiches that were dipped in chocolate. YUMMY was my first thought. So as I read through the recipe I thought, easy enough and on the list it went. Well I guess I wasn't thinking too well about the labor involved in actually putting together the sandwiches and then dipping each one into the chocolate. As great as they tasted, they were simply too much work for me to make again,at least during the holidays. So off the list it went for my co-workers.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bark Recipe

The problem was that I love the sweet and salty taste combination of chocolate and pretzels. And then add peanut butter to it, what's not to love? So as I continued to think about how I could still enjoy the flavor combinations only on a much easier scale, this recipe was born. With three ingredients and less than 10 minutes of labor, this will be a hit for your next holiday gathering.

Ingredients

1 cup of broken pretzel pieces

1 12 oz. bag of milk chocolate chips

1 12 oz. bag of peanut butter chips

*Directions

  1. Turn on oven to 325 degrees and spread a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet.
  2. Spread out the chocolate chips and peanut butter chips on the parchment paper so that they are close together and mixed.
  3. Place in heated oven for about 3 minutes. Watch this closely because you do not want it to burn. You know that they are done when they just start to get a shine to them.
  4. Remove them from the oven and place on a hot plate. Take a knife and swirl the melted chips together so that there is a design created in the chocolate and peanut butter chips.
  5. Sprinkle the pretzel pieces over the top of the chips. Hold the cookie sheet several inches off of the table and drop. Repeat two or three times or until the chocolate and peanut butter chips blend together with the pretzel pieces.
  6. Refrigerate for about an hour. After the cooling and hardening is complete, remove and break the chocolate peanut butter pretzel bark into bite sized pieces. Be sure to keep the bark refrigerated in an airtight container until ready to be served. If it is left out it will melt.

*The video provided will show you step by step directions on making this fantastic and easy treat!

This looks delicious and I like that it seems easy to do also! You have done a great job creating a video and all. The video makes it easy to follow! I hope I can find something similar to chocolate chips in Sweden

Thanks for sharing this recipe, voted up and useful!

What an awesome combination of ingredients! This sounds amazing and would definitely make a perfect teacher gift. Thanks for the video!

Thanks alcosin, I agree peanut butter is great, especially with chocolate. Hope you get a chance to try it.

Glad to hear that video is helpful Tina. I hope that you are able to find some sort of chocolate pieces in Sweden. Even if you can't just break up a chocolate bar into pieces. It would be very similar.

I brought some in to work this morning for our teachers and there wasn't any left by lunch time. Glad you liked the video randomcreative and thanks for commenting.

I love chocolate. I haven't heard of these before.

I love chocolate too Flora. I'm glad that you have never heard of these before because I made the recipe up (or at least I think I did) earlier this week. They were delicious! Thanks for your comment. Let me know if you try them.

This looks like a LOT of fun to make... and it's so easy!!! Love the video. And... I'm really hungry now. I imagine the saltiness of the pretzels really DOES do wonders to the chocolatey mixture. Guess I need to go out and buy some chocolate chips!!

It was fun and one of the easiest things I've ever made. I'm too busy to make things complicated so this was a perfect solution. Thanks for reading and commenting.

That looks *really* delicious...and I can hear my stomach rumbling. How long does it take for chocolate chips to melt?! Hahaha... great job with the video. Clear instructions, perfectly illustrates how to make a terrific holiday gift for friends and family with a sweet tooth!

cardelean 5 months ago

I think that my middle name should have been sweet tooth livelonger! The longest part is waiting for it to harden. The chips don't change shape from the melting in the oven which is about 3 minutes (or less). The "melt" when you swirl then "drop" the pan. One of the easiest treats I've ever made. Thanks for your feedback.

These video instructions are wonderful. I can imagine sprinkling in peanuts too. Awesome and easy to make. The kids would love putting the chips in the pan, and get a few in their mouths, too.

cardelean 5 months ago

Yes Debby, peanuts would be a fantastic addition. My kids are great helpers and LOVE to cook. However, for the sake of hearing the instructions in the video, I opted to do this one on my own! :) Thanks so much for adding to the hub.

I know and with three ingredients, how can you beat that!

Denise Handlon 5 months ago

You definately get that sweet/salty craving from the Handlon side of the family! LOL YUM! I won't have time to make this easy looking recipe, but will take your word for it. Looks scrumptious and maybe there will be a piece leftover at your house when I visit? Hint, Hint... Rated it up and shared.

I think with three ingredients and 5 minutes, we can make it when you get here!

We made your recipe over the holidays and it was a HUGE hit! So easy to make and I used gluten free pretzels, so the dessert was gluten free. Thanks for the great video and instructions; I will definitely make it again! Hope you had a fantastic holiday and happy new year!

cardelean 4 months ago

I'm so glad that it was a hit. I was wondering how it went for you guys. What a great idea to make it gluten free. We don't have that issue around here so I wouldn't have thought of that. Thanks for sharing your results and that alternative. Happy New Year to all of you as well!

I really like the video, and the technique you use for easily swirling the recipe together rocks. This looks like another fun kitchen challenge!

How did I miss this one? It is a great idea, and looks easy to make, too! Great video and I love the easy step-by-step method to make the candy. Any candy that doesn't require a candy thermometer is HUGE in my book!

cardelean 4 months ago

Thanks K9, not too much of a challenge though, just the way I like it! :) Hope you have a chance to try it. Thanks for your comments.

Leah, it was posted around Christmas so I'm sure that you were very busy! A candy thermometer doesn't even exist in my house! Simple is best for me! :)
